D33P (DEEP), the First App that Converts Facebook Photos into 3D for the HTC EVO 3D, Hits the Android Market D33P (DEEP), the First App that Converts Facebook Photos into 3D for the HTC EVO 3D, Hits the Android Market(0)

Joy Aether launched the official version of “D33P for Android” (pronounced “deep”) into the Android Market today. D33P transforms 2D photos into 3D, and displays them as 3D on 3D Android phones. D33P unleashes the power of 3D on Android 3D phones by allowing the users view old photos in 3D, even though they were taken as 2D photos.

3D Android phones have gained popularity, and many of them now come with a stereoscopic 3D camera and a 3D display. But the emergence of these 3D devices has also posed a problem to their users: they have only a few photos taken with a 3D camera, and the vast majority of their photos are still in 2D.

D33P users can choose old photos from Facebook, or from the Android device’s albums. By sourcing from a user’s own Facebook photos, a D33P user is no longer limited to only his small collection of photos taken by a 3D camera. Using D33P, a user can transform those Facebook photos into 3D. This means a user could expand the number of 3D photos drastically, even for photos that she had taken 5 years ago.

Enriching contents via technology

Through advanced image analysis based on optics and physics principles, D33P analyzes the composition of regular photos, and convert them into 3D photos. “3D technologies has become mainstream in the past two years, and we see the proliferation of 3D capabilities in mobile devices too”, said Leo Lau, Joy Aether Founder and CEO. “However, true value of 3D experience by customers depends on the amount of 3D contents that are available. Over 99% of consumers’ digital photo collections are still in traditional 2D formats. With the D33P app, based on our ‘D33P engine’, we unlock that 99% of content, transform them into 3D, and create the 3D experience on 3D mobile devices.”

Availability

D33P for Android is now available at the Android Market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.joyaether.d33p
D33P’s current version is especially designed for the HTC EVO 3D. More devices support, and support for 2D devices with simulated 3D effects will be coming soon.

iPhone App Helps Make Drunk Texting a Thing of the Past iPhone App Helps Make Drunk Texting a Thing of the Past(0)

For the people out there who love Texting, and especially love doing it at the wrong time, there’s finally an answer. The Textalyzer iPhone app uses a series of virtual sobriety tests to prevent people from sending text messages they might later regret.

The idea originator, Samantha Deeter, partnered with Appiction, an application development company, to create the Textalyzer iphone app. The visually stunning and easy to navigate app will only set you back $0.99, a bargain considering the humiliation the app can spare you.

The app itself allows users to create a list of people they shouldn’t be texting when their judgment is impaired (exes, co-workers, discriminating family members and friends), and then runs the app user through a series of reaction-based games before they are allowed to send an outgoing text.

If the user is unable to successfully complete the games, their text is held for 12 hours, at which point they’re asked if they still want to send the message. The user can even create customized warnings so they never forget why they want to avoid sending messages to a specific contact.

“This is to prevent people from doing the ultimate no-no,” Deeter said. “I was briefly single and would run around from time to time with girlfriends after work and on weekends and would always tell people, ‘I wish there was a Breathalyzer for phones.’ That’s when I got the idea.”

This cool, fun, and clever app has seen great immediate success. Within a week of being released in the iTunes Store, Textalyzer hit the ‘iTunes New & Noteworthy List’ along with reaching #101 on the list of Top Paid Entertainment Apps.

Recently published statistics by Geekaphone, present a bright future for the mobile gaming market. The mobile Gaming Industry will make $8 Billion this year and will reach $54 Billion by 2015. Last year game developers made $87 million off advertising revenue. By 2015, this figure should be 10X that amount at roughly $894 million. Geekaphone also estimates that the free version of Angry Birds earns $1 million a month solely from ads and was downloaded 140 million times.

One of the growing trends in the mobile video games is software given away for free with revenues coming from ads, additional future charges, in-game purchases and only allowing user to use an app for a limited time period.

SendTab: Now Available as an iPhone App SendTab: Now Available as an iPhone App(0)

After gaining popularity as a Chrome and Safari browser extension, SendTab has recently become available in the iPhone app store. SendTab allows users to instantly send links from their computer to their iPhone and vice versa. It’s the only two-way app of its kind.

In 2011 people find themselves juggling multiple personal devices – iPhones, laptops, tablets, and work computers. Sharing information between those devices is a complex multi-step process that involves copying, pasting, and emailing links to oneself. Now, a new service called SendTab allows the wireless transmission of a link instantly between devices.

Send Links
In recent years 20-somethings have replaced the traditional television and cable set-up in favor of a living room computer. In addition to the mouse and keyboard, people can now use their phones or personal computers with SendTab to control their living room computer, like a remote control, sending interesting links or videos to the big screen for the whole family to view.

Receive Links
SendTab is also helpful when moving away from the personal computer to a mobile iPhone. Users in need of directions can send a map they’ve loaded on their laptop directly to the Google Maps app with the press of a button. Users can send a news article to their iPhone from their work computer to finish reading on the bus on the way home from the office.

SendTab iOS has a few unique features not present in other clients. Users can set up favorites to send sites they use frequently. Google Maps open up in the Maps app and YouTube videos in the YouTube app when sent to the iPhone. Users can even send links to apps or music in the iTunes store. Additionally, users are able to view which of their devices are currently online and ready to receive tabs.

The service is free and registration requires only the users email and password. Setting up a SendTab network between devices takes only a minute. Now available in the iPhone App Store.

SeekDroid – Tracking and Securing Lost or Stolen Android Devices SeekDroid – Tracking and Securing Lost or Stolen Android Devices(0)

The founders of GT Media LLC have developed SeekDroid – an Android application designed to provide a cost-effective solution for tracking and securing lost or stolen Android devices from seekdroid.com.

Installed on the device, SeekDroid provides users with remote access features, such as tracking the device on a map, setting off an audible alarm, locking the device remotely, and wiping it of all its data. SeekDroid works like a secret agent, never running in the background, using no battery power, and remaining undetectable by thieves until called it into action.

SeekDroid provides users with the tools to locate their device any time, day or night. Like a secret agent, users can log into seekdroid.com to enable the GPS capabilities of the Android device and pinpoint its location. For devices that are lost closer to home, SeekDroid allows users to set off an alarm to figure out which seat cushion it is hiding under. If the device is stolen, SeekDroid gives the power to create a new screen lock code, rendering the device useless to a thief. Users can access their phone remotely whether there is a SIM card in the phone or not, and can even see the cell phone number of the “new owner” if it is replaced.

The most frustrating part of not having a cell phone, whether it was lost or stolen, is not having access to all of the information it holds. With SeekDroid, users can check their missed calls, so their lives are not put on hold while they work to retrieve their phone. As a secret agent, SeekDroid also enables users to lock the device or wipe all of the information, keeping it from falling into the wrong hands.

SeekDroid isn’t just for CIA agents with government funding. Unlike many of its competitors who charge a monthly rate, there is only a small one-time fee to download and install SeekDroid. Download SeekDroid at the Android Market or Amazon Appstore.
